Rangers Battle Rain at Kutztown

Drew's men's and women's cross country teams braved torrential rain to compete at the Maroon and Gold Classic at Kutztown University on Saturday. Despite the rain, the Runnin' Rangers performed well against the DII Kutztown squad and Albright. Sarah Morris had the best overall finish for a Ranger with the bronze on the women's side, though teammate Ashley Walker finished with the same time for 4th place. Steve Monteleone took tenth place to pace the men's team.

The women took second of the three teams to compete. Morris led the way for the second time in two meets as a Ranger with a 28:08 time. Walker, a senior, clocked the same time, but was edged out by Morris. Katherine Cross took home 7th place in 28:56 with Carley Thompson following up with a 12th place finish and a 30:54 time. Anglea Vitellaro was the Rangers' fifth place finisher, 15th overall.

Men's team took third of three teams. Steve Monteleone continues his fine introduction to the Ranger program by again placing highest of any male on the squad. His tenth place finish came at 29:55. First-year Zack Mower took 12th place in 30:16. Mower's classmate Maxwell Rich posted a solid 15th place finish in 32:36, just ahead of junior Andrew Ehlert in 16th place. Tim Barnum rounded out the Rangers' top five in 32:48.

The Rangers will hope for some better conditions when they hit the course again next Saturday at Misericordia.
