Men’s Fencing Splits at Penn Multi-Meet.

Drew men's fencing went 1-1 at the 2007 Penn Multi-Meet with a victory over Sacred Heart and a loss to the hosts.  The women's team dropped both of their matches to Penn and Sacred Heart.

The Rangers defeated Sacred Heart 20-7 thanks in large part to 7-2 wins at epee and sabre.  Ryan DiPeri went an undefeated 3-0 for the epee squad and Tim Howes added a pair of bout victories as well.  First-years Andy Murray and Sam Varon both went 2-1 at sabre while veteran Max Pike won both of his bouts.  Didrik Etholm went 3-0 for the foil squad.

The Rangers lost to Penn, 20-7.  The epee squad again led the way with a narrow 5-4 loss; Tim Howes, Diperi, Mike Huemann and Matt Josephs all scored a victory.  Joren Madsen and Scott Brandsdorfer both won bouts at foil and Max Pike won the sabre team's only bout.

The women's team lost to highly ranked Penn, 25-2.  Allison Walters and Naomi Bocarsly picked up the points for the Rangers with wins in epee, including a victory over NCAA qualifier Stephanie Wheeler.  A 17-10 loss to Sacred Heart ended the day for the Ranger women.  The foil squad had a pair of highlights as both Dina Attyeh and Amy Lester went a perfect 3-0.  Alicia Rapp won two bouts at sabre.
