Ranger women had three Top 3 finishes at the EWFC Individual Championships held at Stevens Tech on Sunday. Drew had a woman in the top three of each weapon led by Amy Lester’s second place finish in foil and Alicia Rapp’s silver in sabre. The Rangers won the team title last weekend for the sixth consecutive season.
Amy Lester posted a 17-1 record on the day tying for the best mark in foil. Lester tied with Elizabeth Oliver of Hunter, but lost out on the gold due to the Indicator (Touches Scored – Touches Received). Lester was + 60 on touches while Oliver was +70. Dina Attyeh took seventh in the weapon with a 12-6 record and Virginia Cooper took eighth at 10-8.
Rapp took the silver in sabre with a strong 15-2 record and a +54 indicator. Carlin MacNichol was close behind, taking fourth with a 14-3 record at +42.
The epee squad had the best overall team performance as all three placed in the top seven led by Allison Walters in third place. Walters tied for the best record at 14-3, but lost out on the tiebreaker to take the bronze. Naomi Bocarsly, the 2006 EWFC Epee Champ, took fourth place at 12-5 and Heidi Einholz placed seventh at 10-7.
Drew has its other conference championship next weekend and The Rangers will compete again in two weekend’s time as they help host the NCAA Regionals the first weekend of March at Drew.
