Led by a second place finish from the women's saber squad, Drew placed a solid fourth at the NIWFA Team Championships hosted by Hunter College. The Rangers took sixth in both epee and foil along with the silver in saber. Heidi Einholz placed highest of any Ranger with a tenth place spot in epee. The Rangers move on to the NCAA Regional Championships held at Drew this Saturday. Drew's success this weekend was due to the depth of the squad.
The saber squad had the best team weapon finish due to a strong effort from all three fencers. Carlin McNichol went a perfect 11-0 in Pool C, scoring a big victory over Temple's Sara Hasse to take first place in the division. Alicia Rapp took third place in Pool B with an 8-3 record and a +16 indicator and Emma Nostrand took fourth in A with a 7-4 record. In the overall standings, the three Rangers took 11th, 12th and 13th place in order of Nostrand, McNichol and Rapp, respectively.
The foil squad took sixth place in the foil led by Dina Attyeh's 15th place finish. Amy Lester, the EWFC Foil first team all-star, placed 11th in Pool A and Attyeh took fifth in Pool B. Attyeh won seven bouts in B with a +12 indicator. Virginia Cooper had the best pool finish with a fourth in Foil C with six wins.
The epee squad place sixth as well. Heidi Einholz went 9-3 in the Epee B division with a +17 indicator to earn tenth place overall. Allison Walters placed fifth in the saber C pool with six wins and a +4 indicator. Naomi Bocarsly took 11th in Pool A.
Temple University won the overall team standings for the 12th straight season by winning all three weapons. Haverford placed second and Johns Hopkins third.
