Equestrian Jumps to Fourth in the Region

Drew's Equestrian team moved into fourth place in the region following the IHSA Show held on Sunday the 18th.  The Rangers won three blue ribbons and took second place in four classes at the All-Region Show at Briarwood Farms.  It is the second event of the season for the Riding Rangers who moved up a spot in the regional rankings with the solid performance.

For the second straight week, Rachel Denning won a Blue Ribbon, this time taking first place in Open Fences.  The junior took home the top honor in the team's first show, an Open Flat champion ribbon on October 4th.  Ellen Joyce joined Denning at the top of the list with the Blue Ribbon in Novice Fences; the sophomore also qualified for the Regional Championships through point accumulation on Sunday.  Christina Karas was the third Rangers to win the Blue Ribbon as she did so in Advance Walk Trot Canter in just her second collegiate show.

Three Rangers finished as reserve champions in four divisions on Sunday: Emma Richard in Intermediate Fences, Jonas Colmer in both Novice Fences and Novice Flat and Sarah Colmer in Intermediate Flat.  Richard had placed third in Novice Flat in the first show of the season, giving her two top five finishes already this season.  Sarah Colmer had an Intermediate Flat second place finish to her credit from the previous show as well.

Ashley Kraft took two third place ribbons on Sunday, in Intermediate Fences and Flat, while Sara Lovett's third place in Advance Walk Trot Canter put her over the top for Regional qualification.

In the Rangers' first show of the season back on the fourth of October, two others Rangers were awarded Blue Ribbons.  Sarah Barbato was the Open Fences champion along with Haley Flagg as the Rangers were tie at the top.  Katie Kramer had a terrific show with a pair of second place finishes in Open Fences and Open Flat.  Alexa Lynsky took second in Beginning Walk Trot Canter.

The Riding Rangers will be back in action on Sunday the 25th with a IHSA Show hosted by William Paterson looking to take another step up in the Zone 2, Region 1 standings.
