Walters Takes Bronze at NIWFA Tournament

Allison Walters won the bronze in Epee for Women’s Fencing at the NIWFA Christmas Invitational on Sunday. Walters came in third place of 42 fencers to claim her first NIWFA medal. Alicia Rapp took tenth place in the sabre competition.
Walters led all Rangers with the third place finish. She trailed just two Stevens Tech fencers while fighting over 25 bouts on the day. Walters previous placed in the Top Ten at the NIWFA Tournament in 2006, but this was her first medal.
Rapp joined Walters in the championship rounds. An All-Conference honoree after finishing in fifth place last season, Rapp took 10th overall this season in saber. It is the fourth time in her career that Rapp has placed in the Top 15 at this illustrious event. She has a 13th place and an eight place finish on her resume as well.
First-year Saber Emilia Domanowski helped the saber squad to an impressive day by taking 15th in that competition. Tracy Villaluz placed 19th in saber for the Rangers other Top 20 finish.
Salina Miller and Simone Bennett placed 33rd and 41st in foil, respectively. While Ahna Keane took 36th place and Mayra Alecio placed 37th in epee.
