Blue Jays Best Rangers, 5-0 in Second-Round Play
TOWSON, Md. (May 15, 2010) Drew fell victim to #10 Johns Hopkins this morning, 5-0, ending their 2010 season. The Rangers were shut out for only the second time this season and had their 10-match winning streak snapped.
Hopkins (21-5) swept doubles play and opened up a 3-0 on the Rangers to begin the match. At number three singles Warren Elgort put the Blue Jays within one point of the victory before Jacob Barnaby clinched the match at number five singles with a straight-set victory of his own.
The previously red-hot Rangers end their 2010 season with a 14-7 record. The young Drew Squad will graduate one senior,
Victor Kolarov (Sofia, Bulgaria/FPELS William Shakespeare) and return five freshman, two sophomores and three juniors to defend their Landmark Conference Crown in 2011. Kolarov finished his senior campaign with a 5-2 record in singles play and was a part of 12 doubles victories, good for second on the team.
The Blue Jays will advance to the sweet 16 and take on the winner of North Carolina-Wesleyan and early season foe, Vassar tomorrow for the right to travel to the quarterfinals in Oberlin, Ohio.
