Bodden, Cashes Named to NJCBA All-Rookie Team
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (May 18, 2010) – The New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association released its annual All-Rookie team this afternoon and selected two Drew freshman,
Michael Bodden (Toms River, N.J./Monsignor Donovan) and
Neil Cashes (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank). They become the second and third Rangers to earn the honor in the past two seasons.
Bodden: Had one of the best first years on campus in recent history as he lead the 2010 Rangers in batting average (.374), runs (47), hits (55), home runs (3) and stolen bases (25). Primarily batting in the lead off position he started all 40 games for the Rangers and reached base safely in all but two games this season. Among all players selected to the All-Rookie Team he scored the most runs, had the most doubles, total bases and stolen bases.
Cashes: Was second behind Bodden batting .328 and starting 22 games for the Rangers in 2010. The speedster swiped seven bags and scored 13 runs this season. His 30 total bases upped his slugging percentage to .469, good for second on the team.
In 2009,
Tom Murray (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) earned All-Rookie honors. The NJCBA is comprised of 17 Division II/III teams and have been annually selecting an All-Rookie team and All-State teams since 1980. Voting is conducted by the head coaches of the 25 baseball teams throughout the state of New Jersey.
