IWLCA Tabs Four Rangers as All-Region Performers
MADISON, N.J. (May 21, 2010) – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association selected four members of the 2010 Women's Lacrosse squad to represent Drew in the Boardwalk Region. This becomes the second time in the history of the program that four-members have earned the honor after a program-high five in 2009.
Lyndsay Rossi (Pennington, N.J./Pennington School) followed up her first team All-Landmark Conference honors with her placement on the first team. Drew Women's Lacrosse has now landed someone on the first team in each of the last four seasons. Rossi put together a tremendous sophomore campaign scoring 32 goals and assisting on 13 others.
Stacie Brown (Upper Marlboro, Md./Calverton School),
Sloane Coles (The Plains, Va./Foxcroft School) and
Allison McCord (Southhampton, N.J./Bishop Eustace Prep) all were voted on the region's second team. Brown is now on her third consecutive all-region team and becomes the third player in Drew history to accomplish the feat. She led the team in scoring for the third consecutive year, finding the back of the net 38 times.
Coles makes her second consecutive all-region team in her third season as a Ranger. She finished with the 20 goals and 13 assists, good for second on the high scoring Rangers offense. McCord becomes only the third defender out of Drew's 18 all-region selections since 2006 to make the team. The junior was a mainstay on the Ranger defensive front, starting all but one game in 2010. She scooped up 35 ground balls and was tops on the Ranger defense with 17 caused turnovers.
The IWLCA honored a total of 224 student-athletes in Division III with a selection on one of the All-Regional teams for 2010. These athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American teams, which will be announced on May 25. The IWLCA and US Lacrosse will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American banquet on June 12, 2010 at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.
