Rangers Sweep Tennis POTW Honors

MADISON, N.J. (May 3, 2010) - En route to the the men's and women's tennis teams taking home the Landmark regular season titles this past Saturday, Raul Smego (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Academia Cristo Rey) and Vivian Peng (Piscataway, N.J./Boca Raton Community) both captured Landmark Player of the Week Honors.

Peng played in her first match since April 14 and defeated the reigning conference player of the year, Jami Fein, 6-0, 6-3. She then paired up with Sarit Ashkenazi to win number one doubles 8-6 to help the women clinch their first Landmark playoff berth. Peng has won all five singles matches and all five doubles matches this year.

Smego had a perfect week in singles and doubles matches. In a tuneup for the Landmark showdown with Moravian, he won both his singles and doubles matches in straight sets against Nuemann College on Thursday. Against the Greyhounds on Saturday he defeated Ian Box in number one singles. He and his brother, Elliot, teamed up to win their eighth-straight doubles match and help the Rangers win their 21st consecutive Landmark match.

Both them men's and women's team's have won player of the week three times this season.
