Landmark Selects All-Academic Team
MADISON, N.J. (June 30, 2010) - The Landmark Conference unveiled the second of their three academic awards today with the spring all-academic team. Each season the conference names two males and two females from the each of the eight institutions.
To become eligible for the prestigious honor a student must be of sophomore standing or higher and have a cumulative GPA above a 3.2. In addition the student must be in strong standing with his or her athletic team.
Stacie Brown (Upper Marlboro, Md./Calverton School) has been a standout for the Drew women’s lacrosse team helping the team to consecutive Landmark Championship matches. She earned All-Conference honors for the third-straight season as well as her third All-Region selection as she led the Rangers in scoring. She has twice earned Academic Honor Roll and is majoring in political science with minors in Spanish and sociology.
Kati Eggert (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) earns All-Academic honors for the second time in her career after being chosen during the winter. A three-sport athlete she led the Drew softball team in hitting this spring with a .352 average and was also a Landmark-best 15-for-15 in stolen bases. An art history major, she’s a multiple time Academic Honor Roll selection for the Drew field hockey and swimming teams.
Brad Mendelson (Owings Mills, Md./The Park School) closed a standout career for the Drew men’s lacrosse team by being selected as the team MVP. The goalkeeper was a first-team All-Landmark choice as a senior when he led the conference in goals against average and saves per game. He earned a degree in economics at Drew and was named to the USILA Scholar All-America Team and is a three-time Academic Honor Roll choice.
Drew Obergfell (Cranford, N.J./Roselle Catholic) enjoyed a strong season for the Drew baseball team in his sophomore campaign. Starting 35 games he was third on the team in doubles and fourth in hits for the Rangers. He has accumulated a strong GPA in two years while studying political science, and has also claimed Academic Honor Roll status.
