Drew Assistant Named to MLL All-Star Team
BOSTON, Mass. (July 7, 2010) - Drew Assistant Coach and Boston Cannon Attackman
Matt Poskay was named to the 2010 Major League Lacrosse All-Star Team. The 20-Man Squad will take on the U.S. National Team tomorrow on ESPN 2 at 7 PM ET.
Poskay is now in his fifth season with the Boston Cannons and is having one of his best years to date. The Clark, N.J. native is leading the league in points with 36 and currently has a league-best 31 goals. He will join teammate and face-off specialist Chris Eck as the only representives from the first place Cannons.
This will mark the second time he has been selected to the contest. His last appearance back in 2007 he was named the game's MVP for his team-high four goals. He scored his the game's only and his first career 2-point goal in the exhibition.
Poskay made the switch from midfielder to attackman and has enjoyed tremendous success. He is second in MLL history in goals in a season by a Midfielder with 34. In 2006, as a rookie, he scored 25 goals, which stands as the third-best ever for first a first-year player.
"It's amazing and shows what kind of talent Matt is that he can perform at the highest level at two different positions, " said Drew Head Coach Tom Leanos.
Poskay joined coach Leanos' staff this season and helped guide the Rangers to their third-straight Landmark Conference playoff appearance.
"The Drew Men's Lacrosse Program is extremely proud of Matt and you can bet that we'll all be watching tomorrow night. He is a crease player and its scary to see how good he can be good when he's healthy," Leanos added.
