MADISON, N.J. (February 24, 2011) - Drew Men's Basketball Coach Darryl Keckler and his staff were named the Landmark Conference's Coaching Staff of the Year this afternoon. The Rangers doubled their win total from a season ago and finished with a program-best nine conference wins.

Keckler Coach of Year
Drew, who was predicted to finish last in the Landmark Preseason Poll, pulled off the biggest turnaround in the young conference's history. After finishing with just three conference wins a year ago, the Rangers ended the season in second place with a 9-5 league record. The Rangers really caught fire after the turn of the calendar year. Beginning with a 80-65 home win over Goucher on January 14th, Drew won their next eight games in a row setting a new school record for consecutive wins in the process. The run included eight conference wins, including victories over each of the top four teams in the league.

Keckler completed his third season as the Head Coach and finished with a career high 14 wins in 2010-11. He led the Rangers to the Landmark Conference Playoffs for the first time and to conference playoffs for the first time since the 1996-97 season when Drew was still in the MAC.

Asmar Capers (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) was the other Ranger collecting honors from the conference this afternoon. After leading the league in scoring with 22.2 points per game, he was named to the Landmark Conference First Team in his first year as a Ranger. The junior transfer ranked in the top 15 in scoring in all of Division III for most of the season. His best performance came at home against Catholic when he poured in a conference record 41 points
