Ranger Stadium Gets Facelift

The old surface at Ranger Stadium has been replaced in its entirety with FieldTurf for the upcoming 2011-12 season. The bladed, artificial surface will play home to five Ranger sports for years to come.

The new playing field will be a significant upgrade over the old turf in many aspects. In conjunction with the project ,a brand new drainage system was installed to make the surface playable in any type of weather. The unique "grass-like" blades are friendly to all types of play and various different sports. Professional teams such as the New York Giants and Jets along with college programs like Princeton and Rutgers use FieldTurf in their stadiums and practice facilities.

“Our student-athletes now have a state-of-the-art surface to compete on,” says Director of Athletics Jason Fein. “It also brings us one step closer to hosting local, regional and national competitions.

Field hockey and men's soccer opened up play on the new field in their annual Fall Fest Tournamaments on Sept. 3 & 4. Prior to the first men's soccer game on Saturday evening a special ribbon cutting ceremony took place at midfield that involved members of the athletic administration and current student-athletes. Men's soccer went on to win their 16th Fall Fest Championship, opening their season with two wins.
