The Rangers, who have not played at home since December 10
th, dominated all facets of the game beginning with the glass. Ault accounted for half of the Ranger boards and outrebounded the entire Goucher team on her own. The 22-rebound effort fell four rebounds shy of the school record set by Hall of Famer Leslie Rushton who snagged a total of 26 against Muhlenberg in 1984.
Fellow senior
Danielle Barber (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Twp.) notched a game-high 21 points and came up with five steals in the second-straight victory for the Rangers. The Rangers leading scorer this season, hit three of the five 3-pointers for the home squad and finished 7-for-15 from the floor.
The Rangers never trailed in the contest, leading wire to wire, with the Gophers only tying the game twice in the early minutes of the first half. After Goucher guard Precious Kollock cut the Ranger lead to three points with 5:07 remaining in first half, the Rangers ripped off the next 12 points of the frame. The 15-point lead at the half was the largest by the Rangers this season.
The second half did not improve for the visiting Gophers as they trailed by double digits for the most of the half. Another timely Ranger run beginning at the 15 minute mark, put the Rangers up 19 points with a little over 11 minutes to play.
Gopher guard Sharnell Huff was the only other player in double figures as she scored a team-high 14 points. Goucher could not keep up with the Ranger attack who nearly eclipsed a season-high by shooting 46 percent from the floor compared to just 34 percent by the Gophers.
The Rangers will look to make it three in a row tomorrow afternoon against Catholic. Tomorrow's tip is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. in Baldwin Gym.
