Van Wingerden Qualifies for NCAA National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (November 11, 2012) The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee announced Sunday the team and individual qualifiers for the 2012 Division III Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships which included Drew senior Jennifer Van Wingerden (Augusta, N.J./High Point).

Fifty-six individuals, the first seven athletes from each region who are not a part of a qualifying team, were selected to participate in each championship. Van Wingerden finished 11th overall in the Atlantic Regional this past Saturday. In the Atlantic Region, St. Lawrence had three runners in the top seven and with NYU and Rowan each getting team at-large bids today, Van Wingerden moved up to the top seven individual runners.

The reigning Landmark Conference and ECAC Championship winner is the first Drew runner, male or female, to compete in the NCAA Division III National Championship.

The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will host the championships Nov. 17, at the LaVern Gibson Course in Terre Haute, Ind. The men's race will begin at 11 a.m. ET followed by the women's race at noon ET.
