Women’s Soccer Releases 2012 Schedule

MADISON, N.J. (July 3, 2012) – The Drew University women's soccer team announced this afternoon its opponents and game times for the upcoming 2012 season. The Rangers have only one new opponent on their schedule from a year ago that produced eight wins and a fifth place finish in the Landmark Conference.

Similar to the past three seasons, they will open up at the Cyclone Classic hosted by Centenary College in Hackettstown, N.J. The Rangers fell to the tournament hosts in the 2009 championship game and took home their first crown 2010. The Rangers will commence the 2012 season with first time opponent, St. John Fisher who won just two games last season. The next day Drew will look to avenge last year's opening day loss when they take on Centenary.

The 2012 Drew Fall Festival will be held on September 8th and 9th and feature Arcadia, Rutgers-Camden, and Vassar College. Arcadia will return to the tournament for the 11th-straight year with a record of 8-10-2 all-time at the festival while Vassar and Rutgers-Newark will appear for the first time.

Drew has three NCAA Tournament teams from 2011 scheduled this season including SUNY-New Paltz who ranked 20th in final preseason poll after being ousted by eventual National Champion Messiah in the Sweet 16. The Rangers defeated the Hawks 1-0 in Madison midway through the year. Landmark Conference champion, Scranton and Stevens are the two other NCAA qualifiers listed on the 2012 schedule.
