TOWSON, Md. (October 28, 2013) – Sophomore
Sam Barcia (Berlin, N.J./Eastern) was named the Landmark Conference Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season. Women's soccer senior
Liz Loiodice (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) was named Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Barcia scored with
2:11 left to propel the Rangers to a 5-4 victory over Scranton
on Saturday. The sophomore made an incredible diving effort, one-timing a pass in the back of the cage for the eventual game-winner. The goal was her second of the contest and her Landmark Conference leading, 21st of the season. She now has eight game-winning goals this year with three of them coming against Landmark opponents. In Tuesday's 1-0 victory over Richard Stockton she fed
Brooke Gagliano in overtime to give the Rangers their 13th win of the year. Her 21 goals this season tie her for the fourth-most in school history.
Loiodice moved into the Landmark Conference lead this week in goals and points. She scored twice in Drew's loss to Scranton and once against Rutgers-Newark
on Wednesday, upping her season total to 14. She also launched herself into the Drew record books, moving into eighth all-time in career goals (26) and points (64).
