Schwinger Shines Again on Final Day

 
SCRANTON, Pa. (February 10, 2013) – For the third-straight day, junior Mariel Schwinger (Los Angeles, Calif./Sherman Oaks) earned an all-conference nod, this time placing second in the 1650 freestyle. The Landmark Championship meet ended with both the men and women placing seventh.
 
Schwinger swam a career-best time of 18:14.05 which the second fastest in school history. The junior wraps up her 2013 championships with second place finishes in the 200, 500 and 1650 freestyle events.
 
Classmate Jordan Bader (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) also had a career day, placing 10th in the 200 butterfly. Her time of 2:29.05 was a career best and is the eighth fastest time in school history.
 
The Rangers turned in two other top 10 performances on the day. Junior Jess Harrington (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) placed ninth in the 100 free with a time of 56.38. Freshman Catie Rueger (Housatonic, Mass./Monument Mountain) placed 10th in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:22.02. She swam a season-best time of 2:21.48 in the preliminaries.
 
Junior Thomas DiGuglielmo (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) was the top men's finisher on the day. He swam a career-best 2:19.83 in the 200 breaststroke, placing 15th overall.
