Three Top 10 Finishes Highlight Day Two

SCRANTON, Pa. (February 9, 2013) – Day two of the 2013 Landmark Conference Championships saw a trio of top 10 finishes from Drew swimmers. A total of nine swimmers qualified for the evening finals session.
 
Junior Mariel Schwinger (Los Angeles, Calif./Sherman Oaks) got her second All-Conference nod in as many days, by placing second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.81. Freshman Kristin Ziegler (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) also qualified in the 200 freestyle and placed 16th with a time of 2:10.75.
 
Jess Harington (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) came .10 of breaking her own school record in the 100 backstroke. She placed sixth in the evening finals session, with a time of 1:02.31. Catie Rueger (Housatonic, Mass./Monument Mountain) placed 16th in the same event, with a season-best time of 1:05.45.
 
Juniors Jordan Bader (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) and Jackie King (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) finished in the top 16 in the 100 butterfly. Bader swam a career-best time of 1:05.87 in the preliminaries and placed 14th in the finals with a time of 1:06.11. King was not far behind, placing 16th, with a time of 1:06.65.
 
 On the men's side, junior Thomas DiGuglielmo (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) turned in the second best time in school history in the preliminaries of the 100 breaststroke. He went on to finish in 10th place in the evening finals with a time of 1:02.37, just .03 off his prelim time.
 
Sophomore Clayton Curran (Middletown, Conn./Middletown) was the only other male qualifier for the day. The second-year swimmer took home 11th place in the 100 butterfly with a tiem of 54.59.
 
The Rangers will complete the final day tomorrow with prelims starting at 10:30 a.m. at Marywood University.
