INDIANAPOLIS- Qualifiers of the last four NCAA Tournaments, The Drew University men's tennis team will take on Farmingdale St. in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday afternoon at Middlebury College.
The two schools squared off in the first round of last year's tournament in Williamstown, Mass. with the Rangers emerging with a 5-0 victory. Farmingdale received an automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Tournament after winning its third-straight Skyline Conference title and are 12-1 on the season.
The winner of Farmingdale/Drew will face regional host, Middlebury on Saturday afternoon.
The teams will play a single-elimination tournament with the first, second and third rounds played at regional sites, May 10-12. Kalamazoo College will host the team championships finals, which will be held May 20-22 at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
The championships provide for a 44-team tournament. Automatic qualification (AQ) is granted to 30 conference champions, which form "Pool A." Seven teams are selected from true independents and schools from conferences that do not have an automatic bid for their champions (Pool B). The remaining seven teams are selected from those teams in conferences with automatic bids that did not win their conference's AQ and the remaining Pool B institutions (Pool C).
