Kleiman Caps Season With Player of the Year Award

TOWSON, Md. (May 9, 2013) – Sophomore Nikki Kleiman (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) was named the Landmark Conference Player of the Year this afternoon with the release of the 2013 All-Conference Team. Sophomore Krysta Cento (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) and junior Kaitlyn Dalziel (Ocean Twp., N.J./Ocean Twp.) also earned all-league honors.

Kleiman becomes the first Ranger to win the Player of the Year award in the Landmark Conference and is the first women's lacrosse player to earn top honors in the league since Kara Fetter in 2004. Ironically, it was Fetter's season goal record that Kleiman surpassed this season.

Earlier in the week, Kleiman learned that she was a First Team All-Region selection and today she adds a First Team All-Conference honor. In 2013 she put together one of the top offensive seasons in school history. She scored 88 goals to shatter Fetter's mark of 76 and tallied 110 points on the year. The 110 points on the year were the second most ever in a single season. Kleiman scored in every single contest in 2013 and recorded six or more goals in nine of the 18 games. Her 88 goals ranked her fifth in the country and she was 7th in the nation goals per game with 4.89. Besides her scoring prowess, she was second in the league with 76 draw controls and ranked seventh in the Landmark with 45 ground balls.

In the midfield, Cento earned First Team All-Conference honors for the first time in her career. The sophomore was the Landmark Conference's top distributor with 45 assists. She broke the single-game school record against Gwynedd-Mercy with eight assists. She was second only to Kleiman in the Landmark Conference with 101 points while also scoring 56 goals. Cento led the Landmark Conference with 63 ground balls and ranked in the top five with 28 caused turnovers.

On the defensive end, Dalziel continually matched up with the opponent's top offensive player, earning her Second Team All-Conference honors for the first time in her career. She scooped up 38 ground balls, including a career-high six against Rowan on April 9th. She was responsible for 18 caused turnovers and picked up 10 draw controls from her defensive position.
