Championship Bracket
DANBURY, Conn. (Nov. 7, 2016) – The Drew University men's soccer team has been selected to the 2016 ECAC Division III Men 's Soccer Championship field.
The Rangers are taking part in history as this fall marks the first season under the ECAC's new postseason format, in which one ECAC champion will be crowned instead of multiple regional champions. The championship bracket will be broken out into four regions for first round play beginning on Saturday, Nov. 12.
The Rangers (10-5-3) have garnered the No. 2 seed in Region 1 and will face No. 3 New York University (9-7-2) on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Rutgers-Camden, which will host both days of the first round. No. 1 Rutgers-Camden finished the regular season with an overall mark of 8-8-4, and will host the fourth-seeded team in Region 1, Hunter College (10-7-1). The winners will meet on Sunday, Nov. 13 at noon in one of four ECAC quarterfinals.
The ECAC semifinals will take place on Saturday, Nov. 19 at a site to be determined, followed by the championship game on Sunday, Nov. 20.
Drew and NYU met earlier in the regular season on Sept. 27 at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, N.Y., with the Rangers prevailing 2-0 on a pair of made penalty kicks by senior midfielder
Joe Sollod.
Making their 23rd ECAC Championship appearance, the Rangers hold a 25-14-3 all-time record in the postseason event. Drew was eliminated in the semifinals of the 2015 Metro/Upstate tournament with a 1-0 overtime loss to Rutgers-Newark.
