MADISON, N.J. – Sophomore
Gretchen Higgins scored in the 72nd minute and the Drew University women's soccer team played Stockton University to a 1-1 tie in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon in Ranger Stadium.
Senior
Bianca Anghelache started the goal with a long cross into the left side of the box, where Higgins redirected the pass to junior
Megan Jozak on the right side. Jozak chipped a low shot that Osprey goalie Tori Vliet was unable to corral, and Higgins was there to tap it in for her first goal of the season.
The Rangers made one final push in the closing seconds, but freshman
Caitlin Zegler's last-second shot was smothered by Vliet.
Junior
Hayden Scotti made her first career start in goal for Drew and made three saves. Vliet also stopped three shots.
The Rangers (0-0-2) are back in action this weekend, when they host the Drew Fall Festival. The Rangers take on Shenandoah University on Saturday and Ursinus College on Sunday, with both matches starting at 3:30 p.m.
