MADISON, N.J. - Junior Alexa Thomas scored in her Ranger debut and sophomore Emily Sheridan made 10 saves, but the Drew University field hockey team lost by a final of 4-1 to Cabrini University in its season opener and Day One of the Drew Fall Festival.

The Rangers are competing in their first season under interim Head Coach Sally Dreyer C'88. They struck first when Thomas collected a rebound off the goalie and found the back of the cage, making it 1-0 with 7:14 left in the opening quarter. The Cavaliers tied it up just over a minute later and scored again in the second quarter to go up 2-1 at halftime.

It was still a one-goal game heading into the fourth quarter, but Cabrini tacked on two more tallies to put the game away. Allison Martin scored each of the Cavs' final three goals.

The Drew Fall Festival concludes on Sunday, when Manhattanville plays Cabrini at noon before the Rangers take on Stockton at 2 p.m.
